Thing 8

I like this RSS stuff. Checking on all my favorite sites and blogs will be much easier now than keeping up with bookmarks like before. This would also be a convenient way to share articles with colleagues at school - if they are smart enough to use Google Reader.

Thing 7

I've played around with Google Earth several times before and had lots of fun. For this "thing" I set up some Google Alerts, which I think will come in handy, and set up an iGoogle page. I likes the desert background. I can see how some disciplines could incorporate several of these tools in the classroom, but I don't really see them working in the shop. I will enjoy some of them outside of school though.

Thing 6

Flickr has some interesting stuff. I tried out Mosaic - after my wife showed me how to upload pictures to Flickr. I did the Mosaic part all by myself, so there Elisa and Old Witch, I AM with the program.

Thing 5

I'd heard of Flickr, but since my wife takes care of all our family photos, I'd never actually gone to the site. Now that I know all about tags, groups, Creative Commons, etc., I can't say that I see much application for it in what I teach. But I did find a nice picture of a woodshop.

Thing 3

All done. Not too bad. Wife helped with the avitar.

Thing 2

The easiest of the 71/2 habits for me is setting goals. No problems with that. The hardest is being responsible for my own learning. Sometimes I have motivation problems when it comes to learning new things.
